NOW PLAYING: Changes Are What Bring Us Home
THE STORY SO FAR: Some bands form to speak about rips in the fabrics of society. Some form to impress fictional girls-right around the end of The O.C.'s second season. "We started for the love of Summer Roberts [Rachel Bilson]," says vocalist Brent Johnson. "We loved her and wrote all of our lyrics about her." But when an East Coast tour led to a positive reception for the band, Johnson, guitarists Colin Smith and Ryan Plunkett and bassist Lee Von Stefanski decided to "take things a little more seriously."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: After two years of touring with the likes of the Burning Season, Too Pure To Die and Stick To Your Guns, the band are regularly filling rooms with their category-smashing blend of hardcore and pop-punk. "We transcend genres," says Johnson. "Kids who are into Hatebreed will like us and so will kids into All Time Low." [Tim Karan]
