HQ: Buena Park, CA NOW PLAYING: Time And Color EP THE STORY SO FAR: When he was younger, vocalist/guitarist Enik Lin was in with the wrong crowd. After overcoming his drug- and gang-related troubles, he formed Burning Tree Project in 2002 to reach others looking for help and hope. "When I finally got the ability to straighten out, I wanted to do something to help kids with the same problems through whatever medium that I could find," he says. "Music just seemed to get everyone's attention." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: The sextet's catchy rock features prominent electronic underpinnings and managed to hold the attention of James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore), who produced their Time And Color EP, and an international audience, as well. "Because we have two Asians in the band, we made a huge stir in the Asian-American market," Lin explains. "[That] led three of our videos to be picked up on MTVchi, MTVk and MTVasia. Eventually they passed into rotation on MTV2 somehow." [RL] YOU LIKE? YOU'LL LIKE: YELLOWCARD / THE RECEIVING END OF SIRENS / SIMPLE PLAN Official Website: http://www.burningtreeproject.com
