THE STORY SO FAR: A little more than a year after announcing that his influential post-hardcore outfit Boysetsfire would be calling it quits, frontman Nathan Gray announced that he was forming a new band. But while initial plans for the Casting Out were for a low-key, less frenetic affair, the lineup quickly grew to five members and the energy rapidly increased. "We've been around for nearly two years now, and we did our second European tour in September and October," says Gray.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Aside from being the new project born from the ashes of Boysetsfire (pun very much intended), the Casting Out play an infectious brand of '90s-inspired rock in the vein of Jawbreaker and Samiam. "We write catchy, melodic songs that get stuck in your head," says Gray. "Like any band, we feel people should listen to our music because we like it and think others will, too."
