The Apathy Eulogy

HQ: Towson, MD
NOW PLAYING: Beauty For Ashes

THE STORY SO FAR: Initially an acoustic project of guitarist/vocalist Rob Kelly and percussionist Brian Curlee, the Apathy Eulogy really took off after the duo added Mitch Ryan (keyboard), Josh Niles (bass) and "straight up stole" Josh Cotter (vocals, guitar) from another local band. They've since opened for Dashboard Confessional, played Virginia's Flipside Festival in 2006 and shared bills with the likes of Mae, Page France and All Time Low.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Though the Apathy Eulogy may have more than doubled in size, they've retained all of their acoustemo (pronounced: uh-koo-sti-mo, and, yeah, we just made that up). Sweet melodies, earnest guitars and harmonic interplay between Kelly and Cotter are all anchored by Curlee's mastery of the "box." Confused? "[Curlee] plays a Cajon, which is Spanish for 'box,'" says Kelly. "It's basically a hand drum that you sit on and play the sides. No one's ever accused us of being unoriginal." [RL] YOU LIKE?
