HQ: Philadelphia, PA NOW PLAYING: I'd Rather Be Snoring (myspace.com/lightenuphardcore) THE STORY SO FAR: Tons of bands proclaim they're not about images. But when Philly hardcore hope Lighten Up! say it, we believe them. Their MySpace bio simply says, "We play in standard tuning." True, but there's a lot more to their ferocious brand of complex circle- pit punk. Can't vocalist Perry Shall expand a little? "We've been a band for about two years, and we recorded a five song demo," he offers. "Our next plan is to record a full-length in the winter." Oh, if only Pete Wentz were taking notes... WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: They've played with Avail, Bane and Paint It Black, but they're much more amped to play for you. "Punk has been a major part of all our lives since we were young," says Shall.
