THE STORY SO FAR: The members of melodic-rock quintet the Overunder tend to refer to their band as the "new" Overunder. That's because only two original members remain since 2007 after a series of lineup shifts and changes in style. "Everything from the energy of the music to the dynamic between members is different," says frontman Jimmy Connors, who's been there since the start. "It's cool to see how different musicians can influence the overall sound."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: The Overunder had a rapid ascent in the Long Island scene largely due to their D.I.Y. approach and genuine, distinct sound. "Most people struggle to find another band they'd confuse us with," says Connors. "I think that's a great trait. If people can identify your band within the first 30 seconds of a song, then you're headed in the right direction."
