It may seem like FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS lead a charmed existence. But it's very possible they might not have existed at all. When six of the members played together in the Flipside, one unlucky night in Dallas almost cost them everything.In 2005, the Flipside--the pop-punk band featuring current FTSK members Jonathan Cook, Kyle Burns, Marc Stewart and Kent Garrison--won a Battle of the Bands to land a spot on the Ernie Ball stage at the Dallas stop of the Vans Warped Tour. "[The show] was in Dallas, but we wanted to have the real feel of a tour, so we rented a hotel over in the city about 40 miles from our houses, and it was where most of the bands were staying," recalls Cook. "So we woke up at the hotel in the morning, and our truck and trailer were gone. All of our equipment. All of our money from touring. All the vintage guitars." After filing an $85,000 insurance claim to cover the Dodge Ram quad cab, a brand new trailer, all of their equipment and merch money, the Flipside almost called it quits right there. At the time of the incident, the band were too stunned to do anything but hitch a ride to the Tour and borrow some guitars from Ernie Ball. After all, the show must go on. And so did the Flipside, earning a spot on one date of 2006's Taste Of Chaos Tour. While at TOC, the band ran into Kevin Lyman--the founder of both tours--and told him they were the band who'd had all their equipment stolen the previous summer. Lyman, of course, remembered them. "He was like, 'Well, why don't I give you 10 days on next year's Warped Tour?'" Cook says. "So that was the Flipside's biggest break, I guess. We played 10 days on the Warped Tour in '06." Only these guys could parlay a huge misfortune into 10 days of face time with the Warped Tour crowd. Maybe the band make their own luck, after all. --Rachel Lux FOREVER THE SICKEST STORYFOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS drummer Kyle Burns gives a whole new meaning to the word "snotty" when discussing the band's practice space, "The Jam Room." Turns out the fun doesn't stop with mucus... "It sounds real nice, but the inside is just disgusting," Burns says of the band's practice space, which is the insulated, third-stall garage at the house where his dad and guitarist Marc Stewart's mom live. "It has enough bacteria..." guitarist/vocalist Caleb Turman starts, before bassist Austin Bello interrupts him: "Kyle's booger wall has probably grown a beard by now." Wait: Booger wall? "I have really bad allergies, especially in Texas," Burns says, defensively. "So when we're practicing, I'll have drainage and I'll just go [reaches behind him and mimics wiping his finger down a wall], 'Whoop!' right behind me." "The worst thing is every time we step foot in there, one of us farts," Bello counters. "But we don't fart. Kyle just thinks he smells it." [Laughs.] "Yeah, Kyle has this thing where he always thinks he smells farts," Stewart reaffirms, laughing. "Every time we play, he's like, 'Who did that? Seriously, dude. Who did that?'" "No. I think all five of y'all have come to this agreement to keep it a secret to drive me crazy," Burns says, pointing an accusatory finger at his bandmates while everyone laughs. "But there's also bottles of urine left in there for months that we find," Stewart offers, upping the gross factor. "Yeah, we don't leave the Jam Room when we write," Bello explains. "But that's not the worst thing in there," Burns concedes. "Coffee's the worst. Whenever someone drinks coffee or has cereal, if you put it somewhere out of the way so no one steps on it, you come back and pull it out and the coffee has grown a little snowman out of green bacteria." --Rachel Lux |

If I see them again, I'm definitely introducing them to cleaning supplies.
In reality, FTSK are just normal disgusting guys, who happen to be hotter then Cali in the summer. (:
