HQ: Los Angeles, CA NOW PLAYING: Oh No Not Stereo EP(TAKEOVER) THE STORY SO FAR: Two can be fun, as Los Angeles residents Sky Nielsen (vocals/guitar) and Myk Agee (drums/vocals) discovered when the duo formed Oh No Not Stereo in 2003. But after self-releasing their debut LP-001, followed shortly by a six-song, self-titled EP (recently reissued by Takeover Records), the pair have added guitarist Pat O'Donnell and bassist Mike Rosenthal. And thanks to a stint as a featured artist on MySpace and a licensing deal with MTV (ONNS can be heard on Punk'd, Meet The Barkers and Bam's Unholy Union among others), their punk-infused pop is almost everywhere. But don't call them sell outs. "We have worked so hard up to this point that selling out doesn't really even apply," says Nielsen. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: From the way ONNS go absolutely aggro on the EP's opener and then oscillate with aplomb between poppy and harder-edged sounds for the record's duration, it's clear they're defying people's hankering to squeeze bands into one genre and writing what they want to hear. "It's always a compliment to us when people can't pick one style to classify our sound," says Nielsen. This asset also makes them palatable to a host of different genre lovers-and although we'd caution them not to flaunt it, they say even David Hasselhoff attended some shows with his kids.
