NOW PLAYING: A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye (LIFEFORCE; lifeforcerecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR: Formed two years ago, obsessed with weird, mathy guitar riffs, and held down by former As Friends Rust/Salem drummer Zach Swain, Hand To Hand may be the only screamo (sorry, but if the breakdown fits...) band who sound equally influenced by Grade, Unearth and Cynic, and whose new album and independently released 2004 EP were both produced by a Dashboard Confessional associate (James Paul Wisner). Yeah, we scratched our heads at first, too... WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: If there's a line to be tread between screamo and hardcore, prog and molten metal, Hand To Hand have found it-as well as a few alternate routes. But beyond that, you should know these guys because, well, they're good people. "Between writing, recording and touring, we don't have much time to do anything else," says Swain. "We're really looking forward to making some new friends with the amount of touring we're planning to do the remainder of the year." -Aaron Burgess YOU LIKE?
