HQ: Bradenton, FL NOW PLAYING: We the Kings (S-Curve; s-curverecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR: Sure, their friendship survived suburbia, Little League and soccer, but could it survive a fairytale ascension in the rock world and, more importantly, being locked in a touring van together? That's the question for We The Kings-featuring four childhood friends who pen catchy and genuine pop songs. They've been picked up by Crush Music Media Management-the company promoting Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco-and signed to their dream label, S-Curve. But what about that touring? "We had the best time on our first tour," says vocalist/guitarist Travis Clark. "We know we have to take [the band] seriously since we didn't kill each other." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Not only is the quartet enthusiastic about their energetic live performances-which you might have caught late last year during their tour with Madina Lake and Mayday Parade-but they're excited about making a name for themselves on their own terms, regardless of their big-name backing. "We haven't toured with Fall Out Boy or Panic! or even talked about it," says Clark. "We want to wait until we've built enough of our own fan base so they'd want to take us out to help that tour. We The Kings are our own band-not just another project that can be incorporated into all that." -Emily Zemler YOU LIKE? YOU'LL LIKE? BOYS LIKE GIRLS / THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS / HIT THE LIGHTS |
