HQ: Albany, GANOW PLAYING: Horror (VICTORY; victoryrecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR: The pregnant pause that follows when guitarist Jeremy Sims is asked how many members With Blood Comes Cleansing have gone through since forming two years ago speaks to the stumbling block that's plagued this quintet. "I wanna say four," Sims says with an uncertain laugh. "Most of it was [because] guys had never toured before. They'd have girlfriends at home and touring wasn't exactly what they thought it was going to be. The more time we'd spend on the road-we played 200 shows last year-the less enjoyable it became." Being an unabashed Christian band expressing their devotion via violent deathcore didn't make finding replacements the easiest of tasks, either. "It was really hard finding Christian members when most Christians are asking us how we can 'scream so much,' play this style of music and still be Christian." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: WBCC-Sims, vocalist Dean Atkinson, guitarist Scott Erickson, bassist Dennis Frazier and drummer Matt Fidler-pour their heart, soul and faith into every atonal guitar blast, chest-curdling growl and punishing breakdown used throughout Horror, a loose concept record which might rankle some of their fanbase. "It's an album about the reality of things Christians are afraid to talk about; like Jesus' crucifixion.
