NOW PLAYING: So Much Drama EP (UPRISING; uprisingrecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR:Together for three years before joining forces with vocalist Ashley Chapman, the members of Red Knife Lottery prove on their debut EP, So Much Drama, that it pays to be patient-and aggressive, and angular... "We put a lot of time into writing those songs, and hearing them completed was such an accomplishment," says Chapman. "Plus, who else can say they worked with a producer [Shane Olivo] who wore a 'Get Off My Dick' T-shirt and kept a butcher's knife next to his mixing board?" Shows alongside Since By Man and the Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower have put RKL in front of sympathetic crowds, and a Warped Tour stint this summer gave the rest of the world a wake-up call. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM:You know, sometimes the best answers to these questions comes from the bands themselves. "We've got the energy of a kindergarten class at a Pixie Stix factory, the fury and speed of a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie, and the passion of daytime TV," Chapman says, before guitarist/keyboard destroyer Chris Hansen picks up the baton. "We also don't mind keeping the listener guessing," he adds. "By the end of a show, it'll have been our mission to get you as sweaty and soiled as we can. We're three-quarters dude, one-quarter dame, doing what we love to do, and we hope you'll join the party." So, yeah, what they said... -Aaron Burgess YOU LIKE?
