Ever We Fall

HQ: Portland, OR

NOW PLAYING: We Are But Human (HOPELESS)

THE STORY SO FAR: You know the drill: A group of musicians get together in high school, realize they have some potential, graduate early and get signed by a record label while most of their peers are filling out college applications. "We're just high-school friends who decided to try and make a living out of it," Ever We Fall guitarist Ryan Furlott explains. And even though the members haven't all hit legal drinking age, EWF are already on their second record deal, having moved last year from tiny Rise Records to the indie big leagues of Avenged Sevenfold's former home, Hopeless. With the dozen perfectly crafted emo-rock gems on We Are But Human, don't be shocked if EWF follow A7X's career trajectory--without those embarrassing grills, however.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: : Most bands rush into the studio after only a few months of writing, but Ever We Fall penned their full-length debut, We Are But Human, over the course of almost two years, eventually recording at several locations around the U.S.-including Furlott's own Settler Studios in Portland. "[Because there was] such a long period of time between when we started writing and when we finished writing [Human], there's just a huge area of influence on it," Furlott says. "I think that's what sets us apart from anything we've done in the past, and a lot of things that are coming out right now. We've had so much time to really develop the songs. We just took so many different influences from so many different things over those two years." -Emily Zemler
