NOW PLAYING: Everyone Is Out To Get Us (TOOTH & NAIL) THE STORY SO FAR: Formed in 2001, Far-Less hit the ground running, self-releasing two EPs and a debut full-length, Broken Hearts Unite, before Tooth & Nail snapped 'em up in 2004. After stunning crowds while opening for the likes of He Is Legend and the Chariot, then dropping their Turn To The Bright EP that November, the band hunkered down for most of 2005 to write their full-length debut, Everyone Is Out To Get Us. Makes sense, since, according to vocalist Brandon Welch, there weren't many distractions available once they got home from tour. "My hometown is kind of like the armpit of Virginia," he says, laughing. "They used to call it Little Chicago because of all the crime, but it's actually really boring." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM:You know those bands that turd out shitstorm after snoozefest and then have the gall to take themselves more seriously than Scott Stapp? Far-Less are just the opposite. Not only is Everyone Is Out To Get Us a creative chameleon of all of rock's colors; it's also chock full of hilarious Futurama and Family Guy references. Oh, and did we mention guitarist Jordan Powers' foremost musical influence? "Huey Lewis is one of Jordan's favorite people--like, in the world," Welch shares. "When it comes down to it, we're serious musicians, not serious people. We're all just a bunch of goofballs." -Tristan Staddon YOU LIKE?
