NOW PLAYING: Identity (BLOOD & INK) THE STORY SO FAR: Hailing from the hardcore hotbed of Richmond, Virginia, the five members of Skylines came together in 2003 through various band breakups and school ties. Influenced by the infamous hardcore and metal footprints left by Bad Brains and their ilk, they put out an eight-song split in 2005 with Blood & Ink labelmates Stars Are Falling, before releasing their debut LP, Identity, this past February. Identity is a "raw interpretation of who we are and what the band had to say," guitarist Danny Wheeler says cryptically. Bassist Matt Moment elaborates: "The sound of the record is just a product of five different guys with one common interest getting together and being as honest as we could. Not just honest lyrics, but honest chord progressions, honest everything." Good--we hate dishonest chord progressions. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM:Besides getting sick on every tour embarked on thus far, "We're really just in this band to make tons of friends and see places and meet people, travel, do things we never thought we'd do," Moment says unabashedly. "So, when we're old and married and have kids, we can tell good stories. Nothing else can really come from punk rock except for awesome stories and good times and just meeting lots and lots of good people." --Jennifer Sica YOU LIKE?
