"We're absolutely gunning for the top,"
proclaims Brian Kapler, the 20-year-old singer/guitarist of Permanent Me, whose hook-heavy debut, After The Room Clears, was released last month on Stolen Transmission. "Me and the band have no discrepancies with playing music for as many people as we can; we don't really have any convictions toward staying underground. We really want to just spread the love, man."

The approach seems to be working, as things have happened seemingly overnight for Permanent Me-which also includes guitarist/vocalist Joe Guccione, bassist Justin Morrell and drummer Mike Fleishmann-particularly after drawing the attention of Nightmare Of You guitarist and fellow Long Islander Joe McCaffrey, who was so impressed by the band's smart-pop songwriting (especially the irresistable single "Allison") that he offered to become PM's manager. McCaffery's Nightmare Of You experience has proven invaluable so far in helping the young band navigate the music industry's often murky waters; an investment with a potentially huge payout should help Permanent Me become the next Fall Out Boy or All-American Rejects. Produced by current buzz-boardsman Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco) and bursting with energetic, radio-ready choruses, PM's debut is an album hellbent on stealing the hearts of power-pop fans everywhere.

"Just before we headed into the studio, we were feeling like something was meshing, like we had kind of honed in on a certain specific sound... It seemed to feel like one big entity, rather than pieces of something," remembers Kapler. "A lot of people love the record; a lot of people are passionate about it. I feel like it has the potential to go above and beyond our expectations. It could be powerful." -Brendan Manley
