HQ: North Hollywood, CANOW PLAYING: Beautiful Tragedy (CENTURY MEDIA) THE STORY SO FAR: It's a familiar one: Boy (guitarist Chris Howorth) meets girl (singer Maria Brink) through a mutual friend in 2005. Boy discovers girl has a wicked set of pipes she developed with no real training. Boy writes a song with girl. Song spirals into a band with the addition of three more members. Band sign a record deal (thanks largely to raging demos on MySpace), records debut with producer Eric Rachel (Atreyu, God Forbid) and credit chemistry for their natural development. "It's just kind of evolved," says Brink. "It was each member bringing in something a little different. It was a combination of all of us." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: With a lot of bands, after you hear one song, you can safely assume what the rest of their songs will sound like. But with In This Moment, you rarely have any idea where the next track will lead you. Beautiful Tragedy has its share of thrashing metal cuts, but it's also got melodically inclined heavy rock numbers and at least one achingly beautiful foray into the world of acoustic guitar balladry. "We wanted it to be diverse... Not just some pissed off and screamy thing where every song is mad the entire album," says Brink. "It's just so boring to be like that. I simply love this band!!!!!!!! They are really an awesome group.....Maria Brink is really amazing........she got a lot of characters in her voice.........she can scream and can sing clean vocals too..........I am really lucky to listen such a talented band. And of couse.....AP rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
