Mark Hoppus on Tom DeLonge: "We're reconnecting as friends"

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 11/18/08 @ 11:38 PM - altpress.com

Mark Hoppus, frontman of (+44) and former bassist/vocalist of multi-platinum punk act Blink-182, has updated his blog for the first time since the tragic plane crash that took the lives of four and critically injured his bandmate and friend, Travis Barker, nearly two months ago. In the blog, Hoppus touches on spending time with Barker during his recovery, as well as throws in this bombshell regarding a possible reconciliation with former Blink bandmate Tom DeLonge:
"in the midst of everything else that has happened lately, tom, travis, and i have all spoken together. first through a number of phone calls, and then a couple of weeks ago we all hung out for a few hours. they've all been great, very positive conversations. we're just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. it's a good thing. obviously the first question for a lot of people will be "does this mean a blink-182 reunion?" the answer is none of us know. we haven't talked about it at all. right now it's just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect, and let the past be the past. the events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. life is too short."
Blink split acrimoniously in early 2005, with Hoppus and Barker forming (+44) while DeLonge created Angels & Airwaves. Both acts are expected to release new albums in 2009.

Paramore writing for new album

Alternative Press - Brian Shultz on 11/18/08 @ 1:07 PM - altpress.com

Paramore have begun writing for the followup to last year's platinum-certified Riot!.

Frontwoman Hayley Williams cited the "tough year" as influencing the writing.

"With the way I write, I feel like I write better from those kinds of intense struggles," she said. "I pull a lot from those experiences. We've all learned a lot about friendship, we've learned a lot about ourselves, so I'm really excited to see how it turns out."

She also claims the songs will be energetic, so, there's that.

The album may be out by summer 2009 on Fueled By Ramen.
