2*Sweet break up

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 11/7/08 @ 6:40 PM - altpress.com

Chicago pop-punk outfit 2*Sweet have announced that they are breaking up. The band will play their final show Dec. 20 at Subterranean in Chicago. The band announced their break-up in MySpace blog fashion.

"So, we don't really know how to go about saying this, or what is "supposed" to go into statements like this, so we're just going to throw this out there: We have to decided to put 2*Sweet to rest. Trust us, it wasn't an easy decision to make, but we absolutely feel that it is the right one. We have been a band since July 4th, 2003, and we just feel that, like all things good or bad, this needs to come to an end. Now, you're probably asking yourself, "why?????" (well, maybe without so many exclamation marks). So to clear the air up front, NO ONE IN THE BAND HATES ANYONE ELSE IN THE BAND! We all still get along just as well as we always have. We sat down together one day and talked about our future together as a band and we all mutually came to this decision. We just felt that the time was right and that it is time to move on."

Mr. Oizo announces long awaited third album

Alternative Press - Mike Scales on 11/7/08 @ 4:25 PM - altpress.com

Critically acclaimed French producer/DJ Mr. Oizo (pronounced Wah-zoh) has announced the release of his highly anticipated third full-length, Lamb's Anger, which is set to drop on popular French electronic label Ed Banger Records (home to Justice, Uffie, Busy P).

Best known in the states for his 1999 hit "Flat Beat" - an instantly recognizable club track famous for its wobbling bassline and its equally infamous video featuring the head-nodding puppet Flat Eric, Mr. Oizo consistently delivers the unexpected. The new release boasts a "17 track experimental opus full of proto-electro, sample cut-ups, and full on club anthems."

Lamb's Anger will be avaiable in North America January 26.

Inked In Blood go on indefinite hiatus

Alternative Press - Ben Sailer on 11/7/08 @ 1:47 PM - altpress.com

Inked In Blood have gone on hiatus, stating that "this is probably 'it'" for the band.

The Portland-based Christian metalcore outfit had the following to say:

"So yeah, as all of you have observed, we haven't been doing anything for a while. There are about a million reasons for this very large 'snag' that we've hit, but the genesis of them all can be traced back to these two: 1. Members that are available to tour 2. A vehicle that we are allowed to use for tour

The rest of the band's lengthy statement can be read here. They released their last album, Sometimes We Are Beautiful, in 2007 on Facedown.

Two Tongues (Say Anything, Saves The Day) to release debut on Vagrant

Alternative Press - Brian Shultz on 11/6/08 @ 8:08 PM - altpress.com

Two Tongues, the side project for Say Anything's Max Bemis and Coby Linder and Saves The Day's Chris Conley and David Soloway, will be releasing their self-titled debut full-length on Vagrant.

The 13-song, self-produced Two Tongues was recorded in late 2007 at Saves The Day's Electric Ladybug studio in northern California. The street date is February 3rd, 2009.

Vagrant is also expected to release Saves The Day's new album, Daybreak, some time next year. Say Anything has commenced work on their own new album, so that year might bring out a new one from them as well -- on J Records, of course.

In other words, you can probably expect more Bemis and Conley than you can take in 2009.

Taking Back Sunday title new album New Again

Alternative Press - Brian Shultz on 11/6/08 @ 8:02 PM - altpress.com

Taking Back Sunday have revealed the title of their upcoming fourth full-length as New Again.

The title seems appropriate given their most recent member change, a move not entirely uncommon in the band's history of ever-changing lineups.

As of late October, the band was nearly complete recording New Again. They'll also do a brief stint with the (International Noise Conspiracy) next week and then head out on a December tour with Envy On The Coast.
