Pavement reunion show sells out in two minutes; second, third dates added

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 9/18/09 @ 12:34 PM - altpress.com

Yesterday, we brought you news of indie-rock legends Pavement's plans to reunite come 2010, starting with a show in New York City on Sept. 21, 2010, at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Apparently, people got a little excited when that show went on sale this morning, as it sold out in two minutes. Thus, the band have added a second show (which apparently is also sold out) and a third show, on Sept. 22 and 23, 2010, respectively. Pre-sale password is still "ZOWEE."

We should point out that the band and their label, Matador, are fibbing a little bit, as none of these three shows are actually sold out; just the pre-sale (which is typically 10 percent of a venue's allotted tickets) is sold out. Regular onsale for all three shows is next Friday, Sept. 25.

Pavement to reunite in 2010; compilation planned

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 9/17/09 @ 10:40 AM - altpress.com

After legitimately years of rumors, it's finally true: '90s indie-rock legends Pavement will be reuniting come 2010. The band's lineup will consist of Mark Ibold, Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West, the lineup which recorded from 1994's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain onward. Pavement's publicist has warned us that "this tour is not a prelude to additional jaunts and/or a permanent reunion."

The first confirmed reunion show will take place in New York City on Sept. 21, 2010, at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. here (password: ZOWEE).

The band's label, Matador, has also confirmed that they will be releasing an as-yet-untitled compilation of Pavement material next year to coincide with the reunion tour.
