Demon Hunter - Storm The Gates Of HellPosted by Rachel Lux on 26-Feb-08 @ 02:04 PM
[3.5/5]Appreciating a band like Demon Hunter is hard. One moment, the songs on Storm The Gates Of Hell divvy up concise and flustered chunks of metal mayhem; the next moment you're treated to hasty, melodic choruses. While adding double-bass beats and tasty leads to an otherwise docile bed of musicality may seem somewhat unnerving, the band somehow pull it all off. "Fading Away" barks and bites its way through synth-laden fantasy metal before ushering in Ryan Clark's smooth vocals, followed by growling and a pinch of electronic enhancement just prior to the whole thing crumbling into a vicious hardcore metal breakdown. Everyone's aware of the formula to marry Earth-shattering metal and hardcore; it's even evident in Demon Hunter's previous albums. But Storm The Gates Of Hell easily trumps the predisposed packaging and just punches you in the stomach instead. (SOLID STATE) Ryan Prado Official Website: http://www.solidstaterecords.com
