Soldiers - End Of DaysPosted by Rachel Lux on 26-Feb-08 @ 02:13 PM
[2.5/5]Soldiers certainly know the ins and outs of burly, mosh-laden, heavy hardcore-musically, End Of Days is in the upper echelon of its chest-beating brethren. The band come off much more genuine, intense and motivated than most of their peers with a muscular, meaty recording, rapid pulse and strategically placed breakdowns. But with nearly every song finding mouthpiece Rick Jimenez spitting somewhat varied frustrations about hating everything and being let down, End Of Days grows lyrically tiring after its first half or so. Not to invite threats or invoke Pitchforkian irony by essentially talking shit on talking shit, but "Fuck you/I fucking hate you" is practically tough-guy hardcore's "amen" by this point.
