Babyshambles - Shotter’s NationPosted by Rachel Lux on 26-Feb-08 @ 03:38 PM
[1/5]Considering walking waste-case Pete Doherty fucks up everything he touches, you can pretty much guess what you're going to get with Shotter's Nation. Sure enough, the second album from the glorified solo project Babyshambles is a half-baked abortion. The kindest thing you can say about the disc's sloppy shit-mix of hookless garage rock, annoyingly affected new wave and bleary-eyed Britpop is that Doherty doesn't sound like he's spent the last three years outpartying Lindsay Lohan. Too bad he seems to have phoned in his entirely disinterested vocals between pulls on the crack pipe. If Doherty has learned anything over the past two years, it's that making the pages of the U.K. tabloids is easy. If he's going to be remembered for something other than being the pitiful junkie Kate Moss dumped, he's going to have to try harder. (ASTRALWERKS) Mike Usinger |
