[1.5/5]Gwen Stacy partake in the most overly dull and generic modern metalcore practices so well, they make Avenged Sevenfold seem like progressive luminaries. After so many good cop/bad cop vocal interrogations, incredibly tedious breakdowns and egregiously constructed riffs, you're merely left wondering what sort of royalties From Autumn To Ashes and Underoath are making. But where the record becomes particularly frustrating is on "Sleeping In The Train Yard." It's actually a really good song with a well-integrated skitter of electronics, a careful, Isis-like restraint, mammoth dynamics and lots of other impressive things missing from the remaining 11 tracks. Still, one unusually out-of-character song on an otherwise snoozefest of an album won't halt a listener's wishes for a quick reenactment of The Amazing Spider-Man No. 121.
