Panic at the screamo?

Hard-touring Arizona quintet Greeley Estates' trailblazing ways have garnered them fans the world over. Their infectious brutality and spooky façade has probably done more good than bad in this regard, and Go West Young Man, Let The Evil Go East mainly serves as a reminder that the genre formerly known as screamo has taken on a whole new level of weird. The album opens with "Blue Morning," which contains busy hardcore breakdowns fast-tracked through over-produced double-bass fills and limp riffage before regaling you within some kind of bizarre children's choir bridge--it's as if Panic At The Disco listened to too much Throwdown (or maybe the other way around). Go West shouldn't be misconstrued as a complete bust, though; there's a handful of redeeming moments on the disc, with the best coming on "If We're Going Out, Let's Go Out In Style." Just don't trip over yourself to hear it. (SCIENCE) Ryan Prado
