Clinic - Do It!Posted by Laila Hanson on 07-Jul-08 @ 03:45 PM
[4/5]Liverpool foursome Clinic are one of those bands who never seem to falter in their upward progression. Every two years since 2000, the group have released a new full-length, each being consistently good and doing something slightly varied without losing the band's edged indie-rock sound. Do It!, the fifth disc in this succession, proves Clinic never skip a beat or miss a step. "First Not Free," the album's debut single, slides into a Radiohead-esque melody, layering off-progression, reverb-heavy instrumentals with their signature keyboard and organ parts. The rest of the album is similarly toned; the group propel the compelling and uptempo "The Witch (Made To Measure)" and "Shopping Bag" through heavily buzzing static and an occasionally confused amalgam of sounds without sounding convoluted or overly done. Their winning streak is still intact. (DOMINO) Emily Zemler Official Website: http://www.dominorecordco.us
