Starflyer 59 - My IslandPosted by Tim Karan on 05-Dec-06 @ 06:05 PM
[5/5] Had Starflyer 59 frontman Jason Martin been a good rock star, he would've either sabotaged his band by bailing during their prime or simply run it into the ground well after its 15 minutes had expired. Yet, umpteen years and countless releases later, SF59 still makes great music that yearns to be heard. Splitting the difference between 2004's guitar-charged I Am The Portuguese Blues and last year's moody yet serene, Talking Voice Vs. Singing Voice, My Island is sheer classic Martin genius, sporting twangy guitar leads, bold, arpeggiated chord progressions, and his endearing whispery vocal qualities. With such a prolific catalog, Starflyer 59's entire career has been one gigantic heyday. Just don't get any rock star ideas, Jason-the world needs you! (TOOTH & NAIL) Waleed Rashidi
