The original nasty rapper makes punk his bitch. Who can resist?
Blowfly - Blowfly’s Punk Rock PartyPosted by Tim Karan on 06-Dec-06 @ 02:33 PM
[4/5] Blowfly has made a very successful, triple-X-rated career of pissing off as many people as possible. Yet never before has the masked alter ego of Clarence Reid so boldly pissed on the material he parodies. True, some of these scatological rewrites of punk's sacred texts are no harm, no foul; after the Clash turned "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" into a Levi's ad, "Should I Fuck This Big Hat Ho" seems like payback. But refashioning the Dead Kennedys' political manifesto "Holiday in Cambodia" into a trial for accused child pornographer R. Kelly-with help from Jello Biafra himself-is something else again. For that audacious track alone (and the fact that Blowfly avoided the obvious choice, the Mentors' "Golden Showers"), Punk Rock Party gets three stars; a 61-year-old singer who still makes suck-and-fuck humor consistently amusing is certainly worth another.
