Everything you love about Phil Spector, minus the gunplay.
the Go! Team - Proof Of Youth
[4.5/5] You know you're backed against a Wall Of Sound when three people are listed as having contributed glockenspiel to an album. By the time the blasts of blaxploitation horns, the Double Dutch chants and a sense of texture majestic enough to suggest what would happen if TV On The Radio spent more time with Tusk are factored in, the Go! Team's follow-up to Thunder, Lightning, Strike is densely packed enough to make Phil Spector's Wall feel like a screen door. The Team still know how to get the party started, kicking things off with the girl-power rapping of "Grip Like A Vice" before making the most of a guestlist including the Double Dutch Divas and Solex. Even Chuck D drops in on a track that could pass for a Bomb Squad production-at least until the cheering starts. (SUB POP) Ed Masley Official Website: http://www.subpop.com
