After a hard-drive disaster ate the first version of their debut full-length, Via Audio regrouped by crafting
saysomethingsaysomethingsaysomething, a patient and assured album with as many ways to impress as, yes, things to say. Like Stars, Via Audio intoxicate their pop with swirling atmospheres, engaging boy/girl harmonies and layered instrumentation of numerous flavors and tones. But while both the charging rock of "Presents" and the pensive ruminating found throughout "Collaboration" are welcome, the songs benefit most from the vocal duets these future indie darlings melt over the music. ("Developing Active People" in particular, ought to accelerate their ascent.) Legend has it that producer/Spoon drummer Jim Eno insisted that he not be paid for his work on
saysomethingsaysomethingsaysomething until it landed Via Audio a record deal. It must've been the quickest check he's ever cashed.
