Inspired by Frank Miller's graphic novel, 300 re-enacts the Greek/Persian Battle of Thermopylae (480 B.C.) in high and brutal style. Zack Snyder, who deftly handled the 2004 remake of Dawn Of The Dead, directs. SO WHAT? The last time one of Miller's novels was reinterpreted for the screen (Sin City), Bruce Willis tore off some dude's junk with his bare hands. 300 is about two ancient armies fighting to the death, so it probably won't be nearly as gruesome. -J.
