A role in Disturbing Behavior brought Irish-born Canadian AJ BUCKLEY to L.A. when he was 16, but appearances on TV's Supernatural, Entourage and NYPD Blue have kept him in town. Now with a regular gig as the lab tech on CSI: NY and a starring role as a thief with some serious personality disorders in this month's The Box, we're pretty sure Buckley is here to stay.On CSI: NY, your character Adam Ross is the go-to lab guy. Is it hard for you to learn all the "tech" speak? Yeah, I get a fair amount of anxiety before I learn it. I wasn't really a scientist by any means in school, so for sure that is and always will be an issue. [Laughs.] But I study it as hard as I can and go to bed saying the big words, and everybody gets a big kick out of it on set. How has the writer's strike affected your work? CSI completely shut down [starting in November]. It's tumbleweeds through Hollywood. It's weird-and scary. I'm supposed to shoot [a recurring role in Supernatural]... And there are rumors of my character coming back in Entourage, but again we'll have to see what happens with the writer's strike. By day you help bust bad guys, but in The Box you play a criminal. How was the role reversal? I was filming both at the same time, so it was kind of interesting. But that's what we get out of it. It was definitely a challenge and lack of sleep, but I thrived on it. [In The Box,] I play this unassuming character at the beginning that we find out has some mental issues toward the end-a split personality. The story is told from five different perspectives, so it was kind of cool because it allowed us to create five different characters. We've gotta ask: Is there any truth to the rumors that you're in a band with actor Ryan Gosling? [Laughs.] It's so funny. Gosling and I were close friends years ago. We played one show together and all of a sudden [people say] we're in a band. I don't know; [as musicians] we're pretty hopeless. So put that in there [and] squash the rumors. [Laughs.] What real bands are you into, then? I really like Ray LaMontagne. I listen to bluesy stuff [like] Sun House. In the more pop-rock [genre], I'd say Bloc Party and any of the old classics: Dylan, the Beatles-the regulars.
