ANNASOPHIA ROBB has a double life. On the surface, she's a 14-year-old girl who attends eighth grade in Denver, Colorado. However, instead of hanging out at the mall in her spare time, she's, you know, shooting films like The Reaping alongside Hillary Swank. This month, Robb tackles her most challenging role yet as Tara, the abandoned daughter of Charlize Theron in the indie-drama Sleepwalking. Thankfully, Robb's own domestic situation isn't quite as depressing.

How does your life compare to that of your character Tara in Sleepwalking?
I've lived in the same house for pretty much my [entire] life and I also know my dad, obviously. I've had a completely opposite life from Tara, fortunately.

What did it feel like to play a character who is so different from who you are in real life?
It was fun, for the most part. Charlize [Theron] really helped me; we talked a lot about the character, and once I got to know my character and discover who she [was], it was easy to slip into her. [Theron] would help me dig down into those mental spaces--and then at the end of the day, I'd be right back up having fun with everybody.

Your character in the movie seems like she had to grow up really fast.
Oh, yeah, definitely. She was pretty much forced to grow up. She wasn't really allowed to have fun. She's so bored with her life and so unhappy because she's been forced to deal with all these emotions and pain. That was a challenging character to play, but it was definitely a lot of fun.

Speaking of acting like an adult, do you really smoke cigarettes in this movie?
No, it's an herbal cigarette. Charlize made me promise not to ever smoke, which I don't want to. I think it's really gross. I did have to learn and Charlize did teach me, but I only smoked probably two or three puffs. I never inhaled.

What kind of music are you into right now?
One of my favorite songs right now is "Come On Eileen," by Dexys Midnight Runners. Because of iTunes, I mainly don't listen to albums. I mostly listen to songs, which is kind of sad, but I like a lot of different styles of music. I don't like country, though. That's not one of my favorites. [Laughs.] ALT

CHEAT SHEET >> Although 14-year-old AnnaSophia Robb got her break starring in PG films like CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA, with her role in the horror flick THE REAPING and the upcoming indie-drama SLEEPWALKING, Robb's proving she's got more depth than your average teen actress.
